President's Council

This council consists of President Scott Wyatt, his executive assistant, and eight of SUU's top administrators. This group convenes on a regular basis (3rd Monday of each month) to discuss issues of top importance to the University and to advise the President as he makes executive decisions. Meeting dates are subject to change in the case of holidays. The group has amassed more than 150 years of combined higher education administrative experience.

President's Council meetings are held the third Monday of each month at 10 a.m. in the 3rd floor conference room of Old Main, but are subject to change.

Bradley J. Cook

Bradley J. Cook, Provost

Bradley J. Cook has been serving as the provost of since August of 2009. In this role, he provides the final oversight of all academic matters at SUU. Brad comes to SUU most recently from Dubai, where he was director of the Abu Dhabi Women's College in the United Arab Emirates. Prior to that, Brad served as vice president for academic affairs at Utah Valley State College. Brad holds a doctorate degree in Middle East studies from the Oxford University and two degrees, a Master of Arts in Social Science Education and Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, from Stanford University. In addition to his work in higher education administration both within the U.S. and abroad, Brad has taught college courses in Middle East politics, international relations and global communities.

Jennifer Oberhelman

Jennifer Oberhelman, Executive Assistant to the President

Jennifer Oberhelman began her time at SUU in the spring of 2008 in the capacity of Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Finance & Chief of Staff. Jennifer is currently serving as the Executive Assistant for the President and Vice President for Finance & Administration. She received her BS in Workforce Education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2001.

Debbie Corum

Debbie Corum, Director of Athletics

After serving as Senior Assoc. Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) from May 2016, and as Interim Athletic Director for five months following the departure of Jason Butikofer in June of 2017, President Scott L Wyatt named Debbie Corum the Athletic Director in November of 2017. Prior to coming to SUU, she was the Senior Assoc. Athletic Director/SWA at UConn. She also serviced as the Chair of the American Athletic Conference SWA Committee and served on a number of high profile boards including the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee, the National Assoc. of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators Board of Directors, the AAC Strategic Planning Task Force and the AAC Athletics Director's Executive Committee. Debbie also served as the Assoc. Commissioner of Sports Administration. She also spent time at Louisiana State University and Stanford University in administrative positions. She is a proud mother of four children and five grandchildren.

Ann Marie Allen

Ann Marie Allen - Title IX/Legal Counsel

Ann Marie Allen was appointed as Legal Counsel for the University and Director of Ethics and Compliance in March 2016. In that capacity, she handles a wide variety of legal matters for the University, advises the President and other SUU administrators on legal matters, and oversees the University's compliance with Title IX. Ann Marie brings to SUU nearly twenty years of legal experience in a broad range of areas of both civil and criminal law. She also has had significant responsibility in public service, most notably on the SUU Board of Trustees and as a Commissioner on the Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission. Allen, a Southern Utah native who hails from Richfield, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (1994) and a Juris Doctorate degree (1997) from Brigham Young University.

Dr. Jared Tippets

Jared Tippets, Vice President for Student Affairs

Jared Tippets was appointed Vice President for Student Affairs at in January 2015. In this capacity he oversees student life outside of the classroom. His professional career has been spent working in both the student affairs and academic sides of higher education administration, most recently as Director of Student Success at Purdue University. He has also worked at the University of Kentucky, University of Missouri-Columbia, and Utah Valley University. Tippets, originally from Bountiful, Utah holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems (Utah State University) and a Masters (University of Missouri-Columbia) and Ph.D. (University of Kentucky) in Higher Education Administration. His research interests are in retention and completion efforts along with leadership and organizational change strategies in higher education.

Stuart Jones

Stuart Jones, Vice President for Advancement and Enrollment Management

Stuart Jones serves as vice president for advancement and is responsible for the development and alumni relations efforts of the University. He also oversees SUU's Michael O. Leavitt Center for Politics and Public Service, which seeks to engage students in the political process. Stuart currently directs the campus’ most ambitious fundraising effort to date: "The Future is Rising” campaign – a $100 million initiative seeking to increase funding for scholarships and endowments, enrich the student experience at SUU, and enhance campus facilities and amenities. Stuart returned to SUU as the vice president for advancement in 2007, having served in similar positions at two northern California universities. He holds a law degree and Master of Public Administration from the University of Utah, an MBA from Utah State University and a bachelor’s degree from .

Mindy Benson

Mindy Benson, Vice President for Alumni and Community Relations

Mindy Benson has progressed through a variety of positions, including director of student life and leadership and executive director of alumni relations. She is a professional event planner and has produced a range of concerts and other productions nationally. She oversees Alumni Relations, Regional Services (which encompasses Head Start and Early Intervention, the Utah Center for Rural Health and the Business Resource Center and Small Business Development Center), Utah Summer Games, Community Outreach & Summer Conferences, and Special Events (such as commencement, homecoming and concerts).

Marvin Dodge

Marvin Dodge, Vice President for Finance and Administration

Marvin Dodge was appointed vice president for finance and administration July 2014 after serving in the same capacity at Snow College beginning in 2008. As a member of President’s Council, Marvin oversees all financial operations at SUU including business offices, cashiers, treasury services, purchasing and auditing. He is also responsible for all buildings on SUU’s campus including maintenance, renovation and construction. Marvin’s experience also includes serving for three Utah governors in various administrative functions. He holds bachelors and masters degrees in public administration, both from Brigham Young University, where he also taught government and finance classes at its Marriott School of Management.

Nathan Barker, Faculty Senate President

Nathan Barker, Faculty Senate President

Dr. Nathan Barker is currently serving as the Faculty Senate President here at SUU. He is an Assoc. Professor in the Computer Science department. He loves teaching programming, and teaches Object Oriented Programming in java, and programming Mobile Apps for both iOS and Android. This last year he helped his capstone students as they created software to automate data entry for a local company as well as creating a website for a different company. Some of his other main focuses are Digital Literacy curriculum and other curriculum development. He is certified in Microsoft Office as well as Computer Forensics. Dr. Barker is currently publishing papers related to teaching computer science and applying computer science principals to interesting real world problems.

Hayden Carroll

Hayden Carroll, SUUSA President

Hayden Carroll, born and raised in Gilbert, AZ, currently serves as SUUSA's Student Body President. He has resided in Cedar City for the past 2 years after serving a 2 year service mission for his church in Salt Lake City, Utah. With an end goal in religious teaching, Hayden is pursuing a degree in Communications Studies here at SUU. Heavily involved in our SUU campus, Hayden has previously served in our SUUSA as Chief of Staff. He has also served on the Latter-Day Saints Student Assoc. (LDSSA) Institute Council (2016-17), the Sigma Chi International Fraternity Executive Council (2016-17), the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success Executive Council (Fall 2016). Hayden is also involved in our Cedar City community by serving as a student mentor in the local 4-H Mentoring Program. He enjoys the game lf Lacrosse, playing guitar, and hiking locally here in Cedar City.
