First Year Experience Programs

Once you start the school year, the First Year Experience office is the hub of information and events designed for your first year of college.

What we can offer you:

Thunder U: A high-energy all inclusive welcome program prior to the start of school that helps you meet other students with the same interest as you, introduction to key resources, meet your ACE, and other important information to get you started off on the right foot.

Student Help Center "The Nest": The Nest is SUU’s student help center created to answer any questions you may have, point you in the right direction, give you advice, a place to do homework and relax and a one-stop-shop for all of your needs. The Nest is located in the Student Center ST 178 and is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The Nest is home to the Orientation and First-Year Experience Office as well as the ACES (Assistant Coaches for Excellence and Success) program. The ACES serve as peer mentors and are here to answer any questions you may have. All students at all levels of their education (freshmen - seniors) are encouraged to visit the Nest.

SUU FYE CampusConnect: During the fall and spring semester, we will have you in groups based off of your 3 main interests. Your first group is your Tavi Group from Thunder U. FYE CampusConnect allows you to spend time doing your hobby with your new set of friends.

Events: As First Year Experience, we hold maybe different events based off the needs of First Year Students. Follow us on social media at [email protected] to get the most updated information.

One on One Meet-ups with your ACE: Each semester your ACE will meet with you to check-in to see how you are doing at SUU, connect you with any resources, and answer any questions you may have.
